Coming up with an itinerary for your South African holiday can be very tricky, simply because there is so much to do and see.
However, we are here to help, and have come up with four different South Africa self-drive tour itineraries for you to choose from. They range from 2 weeks in duration to 6 weeks for a “full tour” of South Africa. We have deliberately not included an itinerary of less than 2 weeks, due to the huge amount of places to visit and the cost and duration of the flight to get to South Africa from the UK.
Select one of the following itineraries below to see day-by-day details:
Start with a week in Cape Town, then drive to the beautiful Garden Route via the Karoo. Spend a few days on safari at the malaria-free Addo Elephant Park, where you can see the "Big 5", before visiting Port Elizabeth then returning to Cape Town along the coast.
Start with a week in Cape Town, then drive along the south coast, through the Karoo and along the Garden Route. Head inland to Hogsback then along the Wild Coast to Durban, before exploring the Drakensberg and spending a couple of days on safari in the Kruger National Park.
Of course, these are just suggestions of South Africa itineraries and you are free to tweak them to suit your wishes and needs (for example, you may want a tour with less driving).
